- About 30 minutes, in person or virtual
- Full health intake and history review
- In-office X-rays when they apply
- A short list of the tests that fit your symptoms
What Functional Medicine Means at Our Clinic
Most appointments start from a symptom and end with something to cover it. We start from the question underneath the symptom: what is stressing this body? At The Wellness Way Westminster the answer usually comes from one of three places: trauma (physical stress on the spine and nervous system), toxins (what is getting in, and what the body cannot clear) and thoughts (chronic stress that shows up in cortisol, sleep and digestion).
So we test first. Hormones, thyroid, adrenal function, gut function, food reactions, inflammation markers and metabolic markers, chosen for your story rather than pulled from a pre-set menu. Then we build a health restoration plan that you can follow at home, with check-ins to adjust it as your body responds.
Honest framing
Our doctors, Dr. Shannon Bundy and Dr. Ivan Palou, are Doctors of Chiropractic. They order and interpret functional lab work and pair it with hands-on care. We are a wellness center, not an emergency room or a replacement for your primary care provider, and we will say so when something is outside what we do.
Who Comes to Us
People who are tired of being overlooked, dismissed, or told that feeling unwell is just part of getting older. The patterns we work with most often:
Hormonal Imbalances
PMS, weight gain, anxiety, low libido, infertility. We look at estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol together, not one at a time.
Thyroid Dysfunction
Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, or thyroid symptoms with a "normal" TSH. We run Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3 and antibodies.
Digestive Concerns
Bloating, constipation, reflux and gut pain are signals, not a personality trait. Stool testing shows digestion, bacteria, pathogens and parasites.
Autoimmune Patterns
Hashimoto's, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions where the immune system is on overdrive. We look for what is provoking it.
Chronic Fatigue
When rest does not help. Nutrient deficiencies, cortisol patterns, inflammation and gut function are the usual suspects.
Allergies, Skin & Headaches
Eczema, adult acne, migraines and "always sick" often trace back to food reactions, gut inflammation or hormonal shifts.
How This Is Different From Standard Lab Work
A typical thyroid check is a single TSH. A typical hormone check is one blood draw on one morning. Both can look fine while you feel terrible, because they measure a snapshot, not a pattern.
Our panels are built by The Wellness Way and run through specialty labs. A thyroid panel here includes TSH, Free and Total T3 and T4, Reverse T3, thyroid antibodies, thyroxine-binding globulin, cortisol, ferritin, vitamin D and a full metabolic and blood-count panel. A hormone assessment can be a dried-urine DUTCH test that tracks cortisol across the day and maps 35 hormones and their metabolites. Gut testing looks at how you digest, not just whether something is growing.
The second difference is the appointment after the test. Your results are not mailed to you with a "within range" stamp. Your doctor sits with you, connects each marker to the symptom that brought you in, and turns it into a plan: food, targeted supplements, lifestyle changes and, where it helps, chiropractic care.
The third is that we remember the plan. Ongoing visits track progress, adjust protocols and, when your goals are met, move you into maintenance care.

What Patients Say
"I recently became a patient, but I've followed The Wellness Way for years. The teaching videos and Q&A sessions have been incredibly helpful. I've been a nurse for over 20 years, so I understand how that system works. I'm already seeing improvements, and I don't even have all my test results back yet."
— Melissa M., patient
"I started care with The Wellness Way about a year ago and have seen amazing improvements in my digestion and hormones. I'm so thankful to have a place that can actually interpret my labs and explain what's going on without telling me I need medication or that everything looks 'normal.'"
— Rhi M., patient

Questions People Ask Us
Do I need a diagnosis before I come in?
No. Most people come in with symptoms and a history of normal-looking labs. The first exam is where we decide which tests make sense.
Which tests will I need?
That depends on your symptoms, history and goals. The most common are thyroid, hormone, adrenal, gut and inflammation panels. Your doctor recommends a short list at the first visit; nothing is ordered before you understand why.
Can I do this without living in Colorado?
Yes. Testing, consultations, results reviews and supplements are all available remotely, nationwide.
How much does the full process cost?
The exam is $99, tests run $250 to $600 each, the results and plan appointment is $400, and supplements are $20 to $140 each. Package pricing that bundles tests and follow-ups is on the pricing page.
Do you replace my regular doctor?
No. We work alongside your existing care. Keep taking prescribed medications and tell us about them, because some can affect test results.
