Prenatal Chiropractor in Westminster, CO
Pregnancy changes your posture, your hormones and your sleep, sometimes in the same week. Care here is gentle, hands-on and built around how your body is changing, from the first trimester through postpartum recovery.
- About 30 minutes with the doctor
- Health and pregnancy history
- Postural and movement assessment
- A care plan matched to your trimester and comfort
What Prenatal Care Looks Like Here
A chiropractor focuses on the spine, joints and nervous system to support how the body moves and functions. In pregnancy that focus matters more, not less: your center of gravity shifts forward, ligaments loosen, the low back and hips carry new load, and the nervous system is coordinating all of it. Care is designed to improve mobility, alignment and physical comfort as those changes happen.
Your doctor reviews your health history and explains the recommended techniques before beginning. Adjustments are adapted to your stage, and in addition to hands-on work we can use specialized instruments for gentle, targeted adjustments where that is more comfortable.
Common reasons expecting parents come in
- Low back, hip and pelvic discomfort
- Neck and upper-back tension from changing posture
- Sciatic-type leg pain
- Headaches
- Trouble getting comfortable enough to sleep
- Wanting to stay active through pregnancy
- Postpartum recovery and posture after carrying a newborn
Posture and Movement, Not Just Adjustments
Every chiropractic plan here includes a postural assessment and movement recommendations, so you leave with tools that support your body between visits. In pregnancy that means simple ways to sit, stand, sleep and lift that reduce strain as your body changes, and after birth it means rebuilding posture and core support while you are feeding, carrying and not sleeping.
First and second trimester
Setting the foundation: alignment, mobility and habits before the load increases.
Third trimester
Comfort-focused care for the low back, pelvis and hips, with positioning adapted to your stage.
Postpartum
Recovery for the spine and pelvis, posture for feeding and carrying, and the option to test hormones and thyroid if energy, mood or cycles are not settling.
From a Doctor Who Has Been There
Dr. Shannon Bundy came to health restoration through her own story. A second-degree black belt and national kickboxing champion by 16, her health shifted dramatically after college and the birth of five children. Navigating the physical and emotional changes that followed is what showed her how much everyday decisions, especially around trauma, toxins and thoughts, shape quality of life. It is the reason pregnant and postpartum patients get the same depth of attention here as anyone else: she knows what "you're just tired because you have a baby" feels like from the other side of the desk.
Testing Before and During Pregnancy
Healthy mothers make healthy babies, so the work starts before the positive test. Preparing for pregnancy at a Wellness Way clinic means checking nutrient levels, the immune response, thyroid markers, hormone balance, stress levels and detox pathways, and getting adjusted before, during and after pregnancy, which reduces pain and prepares the body for labor.
In the first trimester the key nutrients are folate (never folic acid), B12, iodine for the baby's brain and the mother's thyroid, and omega-3s. Low progesterone is one of the most common causes of first-trimester miscarriage, so we check it rather than hope. In the second trimester labs are rechecked to keep supplementation accurate; in the third, blood pressure and liver enzymes get the attention. Thyroid hormones are tested throughout because they are crucial for the baby's brain and nervous system.
A Wellness Way case: four years of trying
A 33-year-old woman at our Woodbury clinic had been trying to conceive for four years and had been given only a prolactin-lowering drug. A food allergy test and a DUTCH hormone panel showed she was not ovulating and was metabolising estrogen poorly. Removing her food allergens, lowering stress and completing a detox brought ovulation back; a stool test then found several infections, and once those were addressed she became pregnant. Her progesterone needed support through that pregnancy. Her second pregnancy needed far less, because her hormones and thyroid were in better shape from the start.
Case shared by Dr. Kaytlin Westerberg, DC, The Wellness Way Woodbury.
When Postpartum Symptoms Do Not Settle
Women experience unique hormonal shifts from pregnancy through postpartum, and sometimes the body does not find its way back on its own: exhaustion past the newborn phase, mood swings, hair loss, cycles that will not regulate, weight that will not move. If that is your experience, we can go beyond adjustments and run women's diagnostic testing: hormones, a full thyroid panel including antibodies, adrenal function and nutrient levels, then build a plan from the results.
"I have dealt with hormonal imbalances for a while with irregular periods and since working with her, my cycles are regulated with less pain/PMS. She has been such a help and I can't wait to continue healing."

Safety and What to Expect
Chiropractic care is widely used and considered safe for many people when provided by a licensed chiropractor. Most patients find it comfortable; some feel mild soreness afterwards, similar to what you might feel after exercise, which usually resolves quickly. How often you come depends on your needs and how your body responds; your doctor sets the plan with you and adjusts it as your pregnancy progresses. If you are under the care of an OB or midwife, we work alongside them, and we will tell you if something is outside what we do.
The first visit is our standard new patient exam, $99. Ongoing visit pricing is on the pricing page.
Who provides this care: Dr. Shannon Bundy, DC and Dr. Ivan Palou, DC at The Wellness Way Westminster. Testing is available in the clinic or remotely across Colorado and nationwide. New patient exam: $99 for a limited time (regularly $175).
Questions People Ask Us
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Chiropractic care is widely used and considered safe for many people when provided by a licensed chiropractor. Your doctor reviews your history and explains the techniques before starting, and adapts positioning and pressure to your stage.
Do you take X-rays if I am pregnant?
No. X-rays are only taken when they apply, and they do not apply in pregnancy. Your assessment is history, posture and movement.
When can I start after birth?
Many patients return in the early postpartum weeks for posture and recovery; tell us how your delivery went and we will plan from there.
Can you help if I am exhausted months after the birth?
That is where testing comes in. Postpartum fatigue, mood changes and cycle problems are common reasons we run hormone, thyroid and adrenal panels.
Do I need a referral?
No. Book the $99 new patient exam directly.
